By The 1 min read

Chartiers-Houston used a strong second quarter en route to an 59-41 non-section girls basketball victory over Charleroi at Chartiers-Houston.

The Lady Bucs held a 16-14 lead after the first, but used an 18-5 second to take a 34-19 lead into halftime. Chartiers-Houston outscored the Lady Cougars, 15-9, in the third for a 49-28 advantage.

Charleroi (3-1) entered the game undefeated and fought hard to stay in the game, but a 13-10 fourth was not enough for the win.

The Lady Bucs’ Alexa Williamson led all scorers with 26 and teammate Jala Walker had 22.

The Lady Cougars’ Sierra Shorts had a team-high 15 points and Maria Claybaugh was also in double figures with 11.

Charleroi looks to get back on track on Monday against South Allegheny in Section 2-AAA action at 7:30 p.m.
