Unbeaten Rangers defeat California, 61-44

California closed to 20-17 at halftime Friday night, but visiting Fort Cherry pulled away in the third quarter on its way to a 61-44 Section 2-AA road victory.

The Rangers (2-0, 4-2) outscored California in the third quarter, 25-15, and then put the game away with a 16-12 advantage in the final quarter.

Ryan Culberson scored a game-high 25 points for Fort Cherry. Devon Brown added 16.

John DeFranco led the Trojans (1-1, 6-2) with 14 points. Ben Wilson finished with 10.

California next plays South Allegheny Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the opening day of the Bentworth Christmas Tournament.
