Elizabeth Forward led 16-14 after the first quarter Friday night, but visiting South Fayette rallied into the halftime lead and held on in the final 16 minutes for a 70-62 Section 3-AAAA road victory.

The Lions led 36-34 at halftime. The teams played to a 15-15 draw in the third quarter and South Fayette outscored the Warriors in the final eight minutes, 19-13.

Matt Thomas scored a game-high 26 points for the Lions. Noah Plack added 14.

Nate Boyd and Tre Mitchell both had double-doubles for the Warriors (1-1, 3-3), with both players finishing with 22 points. Mitchell grabbed 14 rebounds, while Boyd pulled down 11.

Brian Malloy was also in double figures with 13.
