Vikings come up just short in bid for first win

Mount Pleasant’s bid for its first victory of the season fell short when Greensburg Salem broke a 30-30 tie by outscoring the Vikings 21-14 in the fourth period for a 51-44 win in the Greensburg Salem Holiday Classic Thursday.

Keith Kalp led Mount Pleasant with a game-high 18 points and Jason Beranek tallied 13.

The Lions (5-3) led 16-9 after one period and 24-18 at halftime before Mount Pleasant (0-7) pulled even with a 12-6 edge in the third.

Marvel McGowan led GS with 15 points and Jack Oberdorf had 13.
