Uniontown, Ringgold split swim meet
The Ringgold girls swim team returned home Monday night with a 93-79 non-section win, while the host Uniontown boys coasted to a 98-34 win against the Rams.
Ringgold’s 200 medley relay team of Sarah Noll, Megan McKenzie, Kaylee Kassa and Rebecca Noll opened the meet by winning in a WPIAL qualifying time of 2:00.73.
Ringgold’s Anna Vogt won the diving with 177.45 points. Rebecca Noll won the 500 freestyle in a WPIAL qualifying time of 5:35.25, while Sarah Noll hit the time in her first-place finish of 1:04.54 in the 100 backstroke.
Vogt, Lauren Niziol, Abby Noll and Madyline Koontz finished first in the 200 freestyle relay in the 2:07.99, with Kassa, Taylor LaFlash, Sarah Noll and Rebecca Noll winning the 400 freestyle relay in 4:01.78.
Valerie Grimes (100 freestyle, 1:03.30; 200 freestyle, 2:15.50) and Elizabeth Klingensmith (200 IM, 2:16.53, WPIAL; 100 butterfly, 59.91, WPIAL) had a pair of first-place finishes for the Lady Raiders. Rachel VanNosdeln won the 50 freestyle in 27.21 seconds.
The Red Raiders finished first in every event except for Chris Hetrick’s victory in the 100 breaststroke (1:28.35).
Jonathan Sharp, Chase Bowen, Riley Gilleland and Evan Klatt won the 200 medley relay in 1:57.26. Klatt, Bailey Kalivoda, Gilleland and Sharp finished first in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:42.02. The 400 freestyle relay was an exhibition.
Sharp (200 freestyle, 1:58.08, WPIAL; 500 freestyle, 5:30.92, WPIAL), Chase Bowen (200 IM, 2:27.45), Gilleland (50 freestyle, 24.61; 100 butterfly, 1:06.60), Jonathan DesVarro (diving, 159.87), Klatt (100 freestyle, 59.45), and Caleb Patton (100 backstroke, 1:19.60) all finished first for Uniontown.
