Cal women need OT to beat West Chester
The California (Pa.) women needed an extra period Wednesday night, but the Vulcans prevailed at home for a 79-73 overtime PSAC-West victory over visiting West Chester.
The Vulcans (7-2, 9-3) had the lead through three quarters, but West Chester forced overtime with a 25-13 fourth quarter.
California had three players with double-doubles, led by Seairra Barrett’s 21 points and 17 rebounds. Miki Glenn scored 18 and grabbed 12 rebounds, while Shatara Parsons finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Emily Suckling added 11 points.
Brittany Sicinski led West Chester (5-4, 8-5) with a game-high 27 points. Dallas Ely scored 15 points and Anna Kuntz finished with 11 rebounds.
Waynesburg 79, Saint Vincent 63 — The Yellow Jackets parlayed a strong second half into a PAC home victory.
Waynesburg (3-2, 5-7) outscored Saint Vincent in the final two quarters, 51-36.
Addy Knetzer led the way for the Yellow Jackets with 25 points and 15 rebounds. Katie Gehlman (17), Lauren Blair (16), and Maura Bobby (13) were also in double figures.
Mara Benvenuti led Saint Vincent (2-3, 7-5) with 20 points.
Men’s basketball
West Chester 81, California (Pa.) 67 — The Vulcans trailed by 10 at halftime and didn’t recover for a PSAC-West conference home loss.
Khalil Jabbie led the Vulcans (3-6, 5-9) with a game-high 19 points. Richard Smith scored 15 and Nick Miller added 10.
Thomas White had a double-double for the Rams (8-1, 12-1) with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Mike Wilson (15), Avery Brown (12), Matt Wiseley (11), and Matt Penecale (10) were also in double digits.
Saint Vincent 75, Waynesburg 61 — The Bearcats took the road and returned to Latrobe with a conference victory over the Yellow Jackets.
Saint Vincent (5-0, 9-3) led at halftime, 36-28. Jaylon Bell scored 27 points for the Bearcats.
BJ Durham led Waynesburg (2-3, 2-10) with 21 points.
