Geibel Catholic forced overtime Friday night on Bailey Miller’s free throw, but Avella rallied in the extra period for a 69-61 Section 3-A home victory.

The Eagles (3-2, 4-8) led 13-11 after the first quarter and 27-24 at halftime. The teams played to 14-14 in the third quarter and the Gators (1-5, 2-9) rallied in the fourth quarter, 18-15.

Avella carried the play in overtime, 13-5.

Cody Dobbin led Avella with a game-high 27 points. Kevin Painter scored 14 and Austin Lis added 10.

Bailey Miller led the Gators with 17. Caleb Miller finished with 13 and Kyle Toth added 12.
