California saw a fourth quarter rally come up just short in Saturday’s 36-34 non-section girls basketball loss at Serra Catholic.

The Lady Trojans scored only eight points in the first half and trailed Serra by 10, 18-8, at the break. California outscored Serra 26-18 in the second half and 16-10 in the fourth quarter, but came up two points short overall.

Bailey Vig led all scorers with 11 points and Lauren Minor paced Serra with nine. The loss dropped Cal to 9-6, while Serra improved to 11-3. The Lady Trojans return to Section 3-A action Monday by hosting Avella.
