Derry’s comeback fell two points short Friday night as visiting Mount Pleasant held on for a 63-61 victory in Section 3-AAA action.

The Vikings remain in the hunt for a playoff berth, improving to 4-3 in the section and 5-8 overall. The Trojans slide to 0-6 in the section and 0-13 overall.

Derry led 17-11 after the first quarter, but the Vikings rallied into a 29-24 halftime lead. Mount Pleasant extended its advantage to 46-39 after three quarters.

Derry carried the fourth quarter, 22-17.

Keith Kalp led the Vikings with 25 points. Aaron Bunting added 12.

Connor Watt (30) and Kole Thomas (28) accounted for all but three of Derry’s points.
