PAC releases honor roll

Waynesburg University posted the largest number of student-athletes to the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll with 58 as a total of 476 student-athletes were recognized for achieving a GPA of 3.6 or higher while participating in a varsity sport.

Geneva College finished with 54, followed by Grove City College (51), Washington & Jefferson College (45), Saint Vincent College (43), Westminster College (41), Carnegie Mellon University (38) and Thomas More College (38), Bethany College (32) and Thiel College (32), Case Western Reserve University (25), and Chatham University (18).

Local athletes honored at Waynesburg included: Nico Brown (Fr., Exploring, Football, Beth-Center), Jessica Dorazio (Sr., Accounting, Women’s Volleyball, Bentworth), Julie Gerber (Soph., Nursing, Cross Country, Uniontown), Cassidy Guiser (Fr., Mathematics, Women’s Volleyball, Frazier), Nathan Ribar (Sr., Environmental Science, Men’s Soccer, Waynesburg Central), Elizabeth Trump (Fr., Biology/Pre-Dental, Cross Country, Albert Gallatin).

Other athletes recognized for their accomplishes at other PAC schools were: Washington & Jefferson, Allison Means (Jr., Child Development and Education, Women’s Volleyball, Connellsville), Lauren Virgin (Jr., English, Women’s Soccer, Southmoreland), and Megan Yocabet (Jr., Sociology, Women’s Tennis, Brownsville); Carnegie Mellon, Nico Comsa (Sr., Global Studies, Football, Connellsville); Chatham, Emmory Tardivo (Fr., Exercise Science, Women’s Soccer, Brownsville); Saint Vincent College, Joe Baughman (Soph., Psychology, Cross Country, Connellsville), Josh Kucmeroski (Fr., Biology, Men’s Soccer, Monessen), Cody Lambert (Sr., Biology, Football, California), Meghan Obusek (Sr., Biology, Cross Country, Greensburg Central Catholic), and Zachary Spate (Fr., Computing and Information Science, Football, Belle Vernon); and Thiel, Ben Moore (Jr., Environmental Science, Football, Connellsville) and Will VanNorman (Soph., Wellness/Physiology, Football, West Greene).

Track & field

Simonton honored

Waynesburg freshman Teghan Simonton was named the Corvias ECAC Division III South Women’s Indoor Track and Field Rookie of the Week Wednesday.

Simonton won the 1,000-meter run at the Marietta College Open last Saturday, with a time of 3:23.25, which was five seconds faster than the event’s second-place finisher. She also ran on the Jackets’ third-place distance medley relay (14:37.60).
