LH swimmers split meet with Wildcats
Laurel Highlands’ Logan Knoyer and Lexi Kostelnik set pool records Thursday night as the home team split a Section 1-AAA meet with visiting Greater Latrobe.
The Mustangs cruised to a 91-45 victory, while the Lady Wildcats held on for a 93-87 win.
Knoyer won the 100 freestyle in 49.21 seconds, setting the pool record as well as hitting the WPIAL qualifying mark. Kostelnik won the 200 IM in a record-setting 2:16.35, also hitting the WPIAL qualifying mark.
Latrobe’s Taylor Miller also set a pool record in the girls’ diving with an impressive 309.83 points.
The Fillies’ 200 medley relay (1:58.69, WPIAL), Rachel Roscoe (50 freestyle, 26.40), Gwyneth Hamilton (100 butterfly, 1:04.69, WPIAL; 100 backstroke, 1:04.74, WPIAL), Kostelnik (500 freestyle, 5:20.27, WPIAL), Kristen Bane (100 breaststroke, 1:12.25, WPIAL), and 400 freestyle (4:00.82) all had first-place finishes.
The Mustangs’ 200 medley relay (1:50.36, WPIAL), Brandon Thomas (200 IM, 2:04.91, WPIAL; 100 breaststroke, 1:04.95, WPIAL), Knoyer (50 freestyle, 22.48, WPIAL), John Ek (diving, 259.50, WPIAL), Jonathon Lewis (500 freestyle, 5:22.51, WPIAL), 200 freestyle relay (1:35.28, WPIAL), and Cole Dorobish (100 backstroke, 58.44, WPIAL) finished in first place.
The Mustangs’ second 200 medley relay, Lewis (200 freestyle), Luke Edmonds (50 freestyle; 100 freestyle), Jacob Johnson (50 freestyle), Hunter Sloboda (diving), and Cameron Lizza (100 butterfly) also had WPIAL qualifying times.
