Renner’s walk-off home run lifts West Greene
Madison Renner’s home run to open the bottom of the ninth inning Wednesday lifted West Greene to a 5-4 non-section win in nine innings against Bentworth in a game played at California University of Pa.
West Greene set a single-season wins total, improving to 19-1.
Renner’s blast capped a come-from-behind victory between the two playoff teams.
The Lady Bearcats (11-4) led 4-2 through five innings, but Madison Lampe’s two-run single in the bottom of the sixth tied the game.
Madison Lampe also smacked a two-run home run in the bottom of the third.
Bailey Bennington (7-0) came on in relief to earn the win. She struck out six and walked none. She also had a pair of singles.
McKenna Lampe had two triples, two singles and scored two runs for the Lady Pioneers. Renner went 3-for-5, while Mackenzie Carpenter added a pair of singles.
Bentworth’s fourth run came on Savannah Adams’ solo home run in the fourth inning.
Micaela Danley had a double and two singles for Bentworth. Casey Hite went 3-for-5 with an RBI. Adams added a single to her home run.
