Toohey, Madden all-PAC
Washington & Jefferson juniors Jordan Toohey (midfielder) and Josie Madden (forward) joined fellow junior Tatiana Ruzzini (midfielder) on the Women’s Soccer All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference first team.
Toohey, a Mount Pleasant graduate, earned her second first-team berth after scoring a team-leading 21 goals and 46 points. She also led the PAC in both categories and was ninth in Division III in goals scored. Toohey had six multi-goal games, including four hat tricks, and became the fourth player in the program’s history to surpass the 100-goal mark.
Madden, an Elizabeth-Forward grad, scored six goals, a career high, and assisted on six others. Madden’s 23 career assists rank sixth in the program’s history and she needs just two more to pass Jen Pergola for fifth place.
Waynesburg’s Sam Nichols earned honorable mention as a junior defender for the Yellow Jackets.
Thomas More senior midfielder Laura Felix was honored as the PAC Player of the Year. Coach of the Year was Chatham’s Betsy Warren and Grove City won the PAC Team Sportsmanship Award.
Grove City senior forward David Wurmlinger, a Belle Vernon grad, and Waynesburg senior defender Josh Hennigh were selected to the Men’s Soccer All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference second team. Saint Vincent sophomore defender Josh Kucmeroski (Monessen) and Waynesburg freshman midfielder Justin Buberl earned honorable mention.
Grove City senior midfielder Dale Reese was named the Player of the Year, with Geneva’s Gary Dunda the Coach of the Year. Grove City won the PAC Team Sportsmanship award.
