Coffey has top-50 finish in USCAA finals
The Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus’ men’s cross country team finished 13th in the USCAA National Championship Friday in Virginia Beach, Va.
Cameron Coffey led the Roaring Lions home in the 8K championship in 38th place for team scoring, and 39th overall, with a time of 28:13. Devin Pisarski placed 71st overal and 65th in the team scoring with a time of 29:44. Michael Elliot (79th team scoring, 31:00), Jesse Varndell (82, 31:06), Anthony Berdine (113, 34:27), Kyle Slavic (124, 37:30), and Dalton Kirkpatrick (131, 39:51) also competed in the national championship for the Roaring Lions.
SUNY Delhi won the team title with 46 points. Berea College’s Isaiah Dodson finished first in a time of 25:15.
The Westmoreland County Community College men’s cross country team finished 20th with 494 points in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Championship held at Finger Lakes (N.Y.) Community College.
Harper Community College won the team title with 65 points. Schoolcraft’s Eric Wilkewitz won the individual title with a time of 29:11.4.
T.J. Fox was the first WCCC runner to finish, placing 88th (for team scoring, 102 overall) with a time of 34:14.4. Regis Pekar (92, 107 O/A, 34:30.3), Cameron Murtland (94, 120, 34:36.3), Chase Poole (105, 120, 35:19.6), Jason Lohr (115, 133, 35:56.2), Jacob Modrak (135, 153, 39:08.5), and Matt Jenkins (137, 157, 39:21.5) rounded out the Wolfpack finishers.
The Harper Community College women won the title with 36 points, led by Ali Gutt’s first-place finish on the 5K course in 19:11.5.
The WCCC women finished 11th with 261 points. Gina Mattei finished 40th (for team scoring and 62nd overall to lead the Wolfpack home in 19:11.5. Kaylin Heatley (40, 62 O/A, 25:03.7), Alexa DeFrank (53, 83, 25:50.5), Southmoreland graduate Marissa Luden (59, 90, 26:17.6), Shelby Kimmick (65, 96, 27:23.2), and Jessica Ruggiero (70, 103, 28:44.3) also competed for WCCC.
