Vulcans top IUP, 3-1
California University of Pennsylvania women’s volleyball clinched the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Southwest Division and earned a berth in next week’s league tournament with a 3-1 victory over rival Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) at the Convocation Center on Friday night.
The Vulcans (12-5, 20-8) won the first two sets (25-22, 25-21) but lost the third set, 25-23, before winning the fourth set, 25-17, to take the match.
Cal U leads the PSAC Southwest standings by two matches, ahead of Clarion, IUP and Seton Hill. Cal has earned a top spot in the PSAC West Standings, and will play in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
Seairra Barrett led the team with 14 kills on a .300 hitting percentage. Ashley Leto and Lois van Schaik tallied nine kills, and Danielle Hayes and Tina Bellhy had eight. Senior Megan Litoborski had 36 assists.
The Vulcans close out the regular season today when they host Clarion for Senior Day at 5 p.m.
