Vulcans top Davis Elkins in overtime, 100-92
Cal U 100, Davis & Elkins 92 — California University of Pennsylvania outscored Davis & Elkins, 21-13, in overtime to earn a 100-92 non-conference victory in men’s basketball action on Monday night at Cal U’s Convocation Center.
The Vulcans (2-1) were led by freshman Roman Creighton, who scored 27 points on 10-17 shooting, including 1-6 from 3-point range, and was 6-12 at the foul line.
Mike Stevenson added 15 points and pulled down 9 rebounds for the Vulcans. Teammates Nick Miller (13) and Daniel Sapp (12) were in double figures for first-year coach Kent McBride.
Cal U led 43-40 at halftime, and extended its lead to 14 points with 15:01 remaining, but Davis & Elkins rallied to tie the game at 79-79 to force overtime.
The Vulcans begin Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play on Saturday when they visit Kutztown. The tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
