Waynesburg grapplers post win

The non-conference match Wednesday night went back and forth until the Yellow Jackets’ Jake Evans won his heavyweight bout to give Waynesburg a 24-19 victory over visiting West Liberty (W.Va.).

Evans secured a 10-2 major decision for the final points won by Waynesburg.

Tristan Buxton opened the match with a forfeit at 125 pounds. After West Liberty tied the match with a pin at 133 pounds, Filippo Crivelli came back with a 19-2 technical fall to give Waynesburg an 11-6 lead.

Waynesburg forfeited the 149-pound bout, but Matt Claxton responded with a 10-4 decision at 157 pounds and Landon Lohr added a 4-1 decision for a 17-12 lead.

The Yellow Jackets’ Ryan Shank won a 9-2 decision at 184 pounds.

West Liberty’s Logan Kemp won a decision at 197 pounds.
