Warriors play to a 5-5 tie
Elizabeth Forward 5, Morgantown 5 — Wesley Scott scored a hat trick Monday night, but neither Elizabeth Forward nor visiting Morgantown was able to break through in overtime as the teams played to a 5-5 tie in PIHL Division II action.
Morgantown led 3-2 after the first period on goals by Carter Kline, Garrett Huebsch and Quintin Smith. Tyler Brakeall and Scott scored for the Warriors (2-5-2).
Elizabeth-Forward took the lead in the second period on Scott’s second goal and Nicholas Ryckman’s power play goal. Michael Vasko had the assist on both goals.
Morgantown regained the lead at 11:40 on Samuel Snider’s power play goal, but the Warriors moved ahead on Scott’s third goal of the game.
The hat trick ran Scott’s league-leading goal total to 26 goals in just seven games. He is tied for the lead with 28 points.
Huebsch’s unassisted goal at 15:07 forced overtime.
Morgantown (0-7-1) had a power play opportunity in overtime with Vasko off for roughing, but Bryce Hanna stood strong in the net to preserve the tie.
Hanna faced 36 shots, saving 31. Morgantown’s Sydney Smith made 33 saves.
