Point Park cruises past Fayette women, 79-46
The Point Park women used a big third quarter to break open a close game Tuesday night and defeat visiting Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus, 79-46, in non-conference action.
The Pioneers led 15-11 after the first quarter and 28-15 at halftime, but held a 29-6 advantage in the third quarter to gain some distance from the visiting Lady Roaring Lions.
Point Park (8-1) outscored Penn State Fayette in the final quarter, 22-15.
Siteri Tale led Penn State Fayette (2-5) with 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field and 3-of-4 from the foul line. Taylor Smith had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Point Park’s Tyra James finished with a game-high 21 points, including 5-of-13 from 3-point range. The Pioneers made 10-of-28 3-point attempts, compared to just 1-of-7 by Penn State Fayette.
Carly Forse grabbed 10 rebounds for Point Park.
Men’s basketball
Point Park 104, Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus 82 — The Pioneers led by 20 at halftime and then match the Roaring Lions in the second half for a non-conference home victory.
The victory is the second for Point Park (2-4) against Penn State Fayette in less than a week, defeating the Roaring Lions on the road, 75-72.
Point Park held a 46-26 lead at halftime and then edged Penn State Fayette in the final 20 minutes, 58-56.
Ben Wilson led the Roaring Lions (1-5) with 21 points, including 10-of-12 from the field. He also grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
Spencer Perieff finished with 12 and Jordan Pratt added 11 for Penn State Fayette.
T.J. Bates led Point Park with a game-high 23 points. Kenny Strong added 18. Sa’lid Allen scored 12, Brandon Camic totaled 11 and Art Christian finished with 10. Laurel Highlands graduate Kenny Sickles hit a 3-pointer and grabbed a defensive rebound.
