California University of Pa.’s women’s basketball team was finally tested on Sunday, but not enough to suffer its first loss of the season.

Miki Glenn turned in a double-double with 18 points and 11 assists as the fifth-ranked Vulcans closed the game with a 14-6 run to defeat host Ursuline, 82-73, in a non-conference battle.

It was the first time this season Cal (7-0) failed to win by double digits. The Arrows, preseason favorite of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, fall to 4-2.

Glenn shot 6 of 11 from the floor and also had seven rebounds and two steals while playing all 40 minutes. Shatara Parson led the Vulcans with 19 points and grabbed five boards before fouling out, and Seairra Barrett made 9 of 13 shots while totaling 18 points, six rebounds and three assists. Lana Doran chipped in with 10 points.

Cal’s lead was just 68-67 when Abbey Sporio’s jump shot with 3:39 left sparked a 6-0 run to put the visitors up by seven. Ursuline pulled within four, 75-71, with 1:29 remaining but Barrett answered with consecutive baskets to put the Vulcans out of danger.

Coach Jess Strom’s squad led 32-29 at halftime and 60-55 after three quarters.

Laney Lewis scored a game-high 28 points for the Arrows and Natalie Koenig added 17.
