Charleroi edges Lady Bearcats, 3-2

By The 1 min read

Charleroi 3, Bentworth 2 – The Bentworth girls soccer team lost for the first time this season Saturday afternoon, dropping a tight 3-2 decision to Charleroi in non-section action.

Kaitlyn Riley scored all three goals for the Lady Cougars (9-6-0). Jocelyn Timlin netted both goals for the Lady Bearcats (13-1-0).

“It was a great playoff preparation game. We had good takeaways from the game,” said Bentworth coach Tyler Hamstra. “We possessed the ball and interchanged in the attack best all season. So many aspects I was very happy with today.

“It was good for our young team to play against a (Class) AA group of girls that are as athletic as us or, in some cases, more athletic (Riley). Riley had a great game and we gave her too much time on the ball. You do that she can shoot and it hurt us. We had more shots on frame, but (Charleroi keeper) Shayla Watkins had a great game for them.’
