Penn State Fayette sweeps four matches this weekend
Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus, finished its conference schedule this weekend by sweeping four matches in women’s volleyball action.
The Lady Roaring Lions finished the regular season 15-0 in Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) play and enter the PSUAC tournament as the No. 1 seed. Penn State Fayette competes in the semifinals on Nov. 1 at Rec Hall. If the Lady Roaring Lions win, they will play the finals on Nov. 2.
Coach Nancy Wheeler’s squad opened with a 3-0 victory over Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Saturday. The set scores were 25-8, 25-10, 25-8.
Laurel Highlands grad Janelle Cooper led her team with 10 digs and Ringgold’s Tori Helmantoler had 16 assists.
Siteri Tale (Laurel Highlands) had seven kills and Emma Lewis (Carmichaels) recorded four aces.
The Lady Roaring Lions downed Scranton, 3-0, and the set scores were 25-10, 25-11, 25-10.
Cooper had eight kills and 12 digs, Tale had eight kills, California grad Kelsey Tyler had seven kills and Helmantoler had 32 assists and five aces. Connellsville graduate Caitlyn Williams chipped in with 15 digs.
Penn State Fayette earned a 3-0 sweep over PSU Lehigh Valley on Sunday with set scores of 25-11, 25-13, 25-14.
Helmantoler led the match with 27 assists, while Connellsville graduate Kristen Domer had five aces and 10 digs. Cooper and Tale had eight kills and Williams had 16 digs.
Fayette defeated Hazelton with a 3-0 sweep on Sunday. The set scores were 25-13, 25-6, 25-13.
Helmantoler again led in assists with 30. Williams had 16 digs and Cooper chipped in with 13 digs and six kills.
Tyler had five aces and Tale had 16 kills. Brownsville graduate Kyonte Martin had six kills.
