Greensburg Salem outscores Uniontown, 35-0, in second half for 49-7 victory
Uniontown scored the first touchdown in Friday’s Big Nine Conference game against Greensburg Salem, and were competitive in the first half in trailing by seven at halftime, but the Golden Lions scored 35 unanswered points in a 49-7 win on Friday at Bill Power Stadium.
The Red Raiders (1-7, 1-9) got on the board first when Eric Dotson pulled in a 28-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Chad Workman, and Uniontown led, 7-0, after Evan Klatt’s PAT.
Greensburg Salem (4-4, 5-5) tied the game at 7-7 when Tommy McChesney scored on a 50-yard run and Ryan Collette kicked the first of six PATs.
The Golden Lions’ Alex Phillip scored on an 8-yard run for a 14-7 halftime lead.
Greensburg Salem extended its lead to 35-7 in the third when McChesney (20), Teegan Hahn (12) and Phillip (3) all scored on running plays.
Jacob Hoyle scored the final two touchdowns for the Golden Lions, and Cory Contic came on to kick the final extra point of the season on Hoyle’s final touchdown in the fourth.
Hoyle led all rushers with 197 yards on 15 carries and two touchdowns, while McChesney carried the ball 10 times for 112 yards and two scores.
