Yough girls hold on for 3-1 win

Yough 3, South Allegheny 1 – Gianna Appolonia scored two goals and the goalkeeping tandem of Ashlynn Swauger and Sara Krofcheck made the scores stand Wednesday night as Yough defeated visiting South Allegheny, 3-1, in non-section girls soccer action.

Appolonia scored the first goal of the first half and Emily Franzetta doubled the lead off an Amber Biros assist.

South Allegheny scored late in the first half.

Appolonia converted a Biros’ pass in the second half for the Lady Cougars’ third goal.

Swauger made three saves in the first half and Krofcheck turned aside four in the second half.

Yough is now 1-1 overall.
