Cougars finish strong for 41-14 win
Charleroi led 21-14 at halftime Friday night, but the Cougars scored the final 20 points for a 41-14 non-conference victory at Southmoreland.
Geno Pellegrini scored on a 10-yard run in the third quarter. Dom Cantini recovered a fumble and returned it 25 yards for a score in the fourth quarter. Brayden Mihalcin closed the scoring on a 47-yard run.
Southmoreland actually led 7-0 in the first quarter on Ronnie Robinson’s 29-yard touchdown run and Olivia Porter’s extra point.
Charleroi’s Dakota Romantino returned the ensuing kickoff 60 yards and Sean Cole’s point-after tied the game in the first quarter.
The teams matched touchdowns in the second quarter with the Cougars’ Hunter Perry scoring on a 12-yard run and the Scots’ Robinson running into the end zone from 36 yards.
Mihalcin spotted the Cougars the lead at halftime on a 66-yard run. Mihalcin ran for 155 yards.
