Vulcans roll to 79-3 win at Cheyney
Garry Brown caught only two passes, but both went for touchdowns as California (Pa.) won on the road at Cheyney, 79-3.
Brown caught touchdown passes of 72 and 27 yard from Michael Keir in the first seven minutes of the game.
Jalen Bell also scored in the first quarter when he found the end zone on a 2-yard run.
After Cheyney made a field goal early in the second quarter, Keir added three more touchdown passes of 18 (Ryan McCauley), 29 (Tom Greene), and 4 (Jordan Dandridge).
Nick Grissom’s 1-yard touchdown dive made it 35-3 just 24 seconds into the third quarter. Then, the defense took over with Luke Hrapchak (15) and Brendan Blair (20) returning interceptions for touchdowns. Plus, the Vulcans scored a safety.
Dandridge scored a second time when he recovered a California fumble in the end zone at 9:18 of the third quarter.
Aaron Bailey’s 29-yard run capped the scoring with 2:18 left in the game.
Will Brazill was a busy man for the Vulcans with 11 extra points.
Keir completed 9-of-11 passes for 211 yards and five touchdowns. Grissom ran for 96 yards on just five carries. Greene caught a team-high three passes for 53 yards.
