Lady Raiders win three of four in opening meet

Uniontown (girls) 23, Connellsville 34; Uniontown (girls) 15, Albert Gallatin 47; McKeesport (girls) 28, Uniontown 29; Uniontown (girls) 15, West Mifflin 50; Connellsville (girls) 15, Albert Gallatin 50; McKeesport (girls) 23, Connellsville 33; Connellsville (girls) 15, West Mifflin 50; McKeesport (girls) 15, Albert Gallatin 50 – McKeesport took three of the top four places afternoon to sweep the opening Section 2-AAA quintrangular meet at West Mifflin.

The Lady Tigers defeated Uniontown (28-29), Connellsville (23-33), West Mifflin (15-50), and Albert Gallatin (15-50). The Lady Raiders rallied for wins against Connellsville (23-34), Albert Gallatin (15-47), and West Mifflin (15-50). Connellsville picked up wins against Albert Gallatin (15-50) and West Mifflin (15-50). The host squad defeated Albert Gallatin, 15-50.

McKeesport’s Macayle Wade won in 20:31. Teammate Makaila Wade was second in 21:26, with the Lady Tigers’ Niava Price third in 21:48.

Uniontown’s Madison Bertovich was third in 21:27 with teammate Macy Mills seventh in 23:17. Celena Delara was ninth in 23:43 and Brooke Bertovich placed 10th in 23:55.

Ally Wilson was the first Connellsville runner to finish, placing fifth in 21:48. Teammate Chloe Kalp was next with a time of 22:41.

Brownsville (girls) 17, Burgettstown 45; Brownsville (girls) 15, California 48; Brownsville (girls) 15, Avella 50; Brownsville (girls) 15, McGuffey 50; California (girls) 15, Avella 50; California (girls) 24, Burgettstown 31; California (girls) 15, McGuffey 50; Burgettstown (girls) 15, McGuffey 50; Burgettstown (girls) 15, Avella 50 – The Brownsville girls finished in the top three places Tuesday afternoon to secure a Section 3-AA quadrangular sweep at California.

The Lady Falcons defeated Burgettstown (17-45), California (15-48), Avella (15-50), and McGuffey (15-50). The Lady Trojans defeated Avella (15-50), Burgettstown (24-31), and McGuffey (15-50).

Gianna Quarzo finished first in 21:26. Sara Vance was second in 22:21, with her sister Jessica third in 23:36. Hanna Dewitt was fifth in 26:07 and Rae’Ven Walker was sixth in 26:20.

California’s Nicole Anderson finished seventh with a time of 27:05, 28 seconds ahead of the Lady Falcons’ Alie Seto.

Waynesburg Central (girls) 15, West Greene 50; Waynesburg Central (girls) 15, Fort Cherry 50 – Fort Cherry took four of the top five places, but didn’t have a fifth finisher Tuesday afternoon as Waynesburg Central swept the Section 3-AA triangular.

The West Greene girls were shorthanded, as well, so the Lady Raiders won by the score of 15-50.

The Lady Rangers’ Angela Lucarini finished first in 23:35. The Lady Pioneers’ Rachel Jones was second in 25:02.

Keira Fuqua was the top finisher for Waynesburg, placing sixth in 29:01.

Riverview (girls) 22, Shady Side Academy 33; Riverview (girls) 15, Southmoreland 46; Shady Side Academy (girls) 17, Southmoreland 44; Riverview (girls) 15, Geibel Catholic 50; Southmoreland (girls) 15, Geibel Catholic 50; Shady Side Academy (girls) 15, Geibel Catholic 50 – Riverview swept the Section 4-AA triangular Tuesday afternoon from Shady Side Academy, Southmoreland and Geibel Catholic.

Riverview defeated Shady Side Academy (22-33), Southmoreland (15-46), and Geibel (15-50). Southmoreland lost to Shady Side Academy (17-44) and defeated the Lady Gators (15-50).

Shady Side Academy’s Jeanne Lauer won in 20:40.

Geibel Catholic’s Piper Scarry finished eighth in 24:28. Southmoreland’s Scarlett Davidovich was 10th overall in 25:09.
