Geibel Catholic rallies past Mapletown
Geibel Catholic rallied from 2-0 down for a 3-2 Section 2-A victory over Mapletown at Geibel Catholic.
The Lady Maples won the first two sets, 25-13 and 26-24, but Geibel responded with a 25-15 victory in the third set, a 25-21 win in the fourth set and a 15-4 triumph in the decisive fifth set.
Lauren Tomasko had 12 kills and 15 digs for the Lady Gators, while teammates Grace Nowicki (seven kills, seven blocks), Amanda Antol (six kills, seven aces) and Alexa Henckel (34 assists, 17 digs) had strong matches. Geibel’s Abbey Sitko had four aces and 30 digs.
Gabriela Clark (six kills) and Taylor Vanata (five kills) led the Lady Maples (0-3, 1-4) in kills. Madison Helmick had nine aces and Makenzie Cree had 13 digs for the visitors. Mapletown’s Pure Hartley had 10 assists and teammate Morgan Helmick had eight assists.
Geibel travels to California on Thursday in a Section 2-A match.
