Lady Colonials win in 12 innings, 9-8
Albert Gallatin needed 12 innings Monday afternoon, but the extra effort was worth it for a 9-8 Section 2-AAAAA softball win at Thomas Jefferson.
The Lady Colonials (3-1, 4-1) opened the 12th inning with Lindsey Robinson placed on second per international tie-breaking rules.
Harlie Vance singled Robinson to third. Maddy Hershberger sacrificed the runners ahead. Kassie Miller found her way to first to load the bases, and then Hannah Turtzer forced in a run with a walk.
Winning pitcher Maddi Flowers brought home the eventual winning run with a sacrifice fly.
The Lady Jaguars (0-2, 3-4) scored one run in the bottom of the 12th, but the game ended with a double play.
Flowers allowed three runs (one earned) on six hits, pitching the final six innings for the win. She struck out two and walked one.
Flowers also had a double, single and drove in three runs. Miller doubled.
