Lady Trojans earn key Section 2-A victory over Lady Maples

The Lady Trojans picked up a key 9-2 road win in Section 2-A play over the Lady Maples on Wednesday.

California scored two runs in the first, fourth and sixth innings, before adding three in the seventh. Mapletown (3-5, 4-8) scored its two runs in the sixth inning.

Bre Trusler picked up the pitching victory with eight strikeouts and two walks.

Teammate Rebecca Staley had a two-run home run and single. The Lady Trojans’ Ashley Gush was a triple short of the cycle and knocked in three runs.

Taylor Vanata doubled for the Lady Maples. Teammates Hannah Dunsberry and Michaela Perry singled.

Abby McIntire took the pitching loss. Mapletown looks to get back on track when it hosts Turkeyfoot at 4:15 p.m.
