Champions crowned in Grant Street League

Davis & Davis, Fayette’s Finest and Team Juan ended as champions as the Grant Street Basketball League season came to a close Sunday night.

Davis & Davis defeated APEX Cleaning, 31-15, in the Inner Change Championship game. Eli Teslovich led the winners with 10 points and Notorious Grooms added nine points and 12 assists. Harlin Davis scored 10 points for APEX.

The Team Humanity Middle School Championship went down to the wire with Fayette’s Finest holding on for the title. Fayette’s Finest trailed New Beginnning’s Heat, 19-18 at halftime, but Rod Gallagher’s jumper with nine seconds remaining lifted Fayette’s Finest to the crown. Gallagher shared game-scoring honors with the New Beginning Heat’s Christian McGowan with 17 points apiece.

Fayette’s Finest won a second title Sunday night by defeating the Raiders, 57-41, in the playerspace.com High School Championship. Fayette’s Finest led 27-22 at halftime and then outscored the Raiders in the second half, 30-19. Malik Ramsey scored 34 points, including 20 in the second half, to lead Fayette’s Finest. Bill DeShields led the Raiders with 21 and Cam Fitzgerald added 13.

The Lantz Funeral Home Adult League Championship closed the evening with Team Juan slipping past Team Young, 41-38, for the title. Jajuan Davis led the winners with a game-high 15 points, adding eight assists. James Hairston was also in double figures with 10. Team Young’s Mike Hooper shared game-scoring honors with 15. Jeff Young added 10.
