Parsons scores 1,000th point as Cal women rout Huskies
Shatara Parsons went over the 1,000-point mark for her career with a game-high 27 points as fourth-ranked California University of Pa. blasted host Bloomsburg, 61-38, in women’s college basketball PSAC game on Saturday.
Parsons is the 28th player to hit the milestone for the Vulcans (6-1, 3-0) and fifth in the past seven years to do it under coach Jess Strom. She hit 10 of 17 shots and also grabbed 12 rebounds, blocked five shots and came up with four steals.
Elizabeth Forward graduate Abbey Sporio totaled eight points and Jighna Flood-Francis had seven points for Cal in the defensive affair.
The Vulcans went ahead to stay with an 11-point run that snapped a 13-13 tie in the second quarter.
Cal held Bloomsburg (3-5, 0-3) to just 35.4 percent shooting from the floor and forced 31 turnovers.
Leah Myers led the Huskies with only seven points.
