Big second quarter carries Lady Maples to win

The Mapletown girls scored 20 points in the second quarter Saturday night as the Lady Maples secured a 59-37 win over Bentworth in the Avella Tip-Off Tournament consolation.

The Lady Bearcats led 8-6 after the first quarter, but Mapletown rallied for a 26-15 halftime lead. The Lady Maples continued the momentum in the second half with a 33-22 scoring advantage.

Kayla Smith led Mapletown (1-1) with 16 points, seven blocks and seven rebounds. Abby Antill scored 13 points. Taylor Vanata finished with 10 points, as did Kelsi Smith, who had a double-double with 10 rebounds.
