Woodland Hills jumped out early en route to a 72-56 victory over Connellsville on Friday in the Fayette County Coaches Association Tip-Off Tournament at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus.

The Wolverines held a 16-10 lead after the first quarter, and increased their advantage to 38-19 at halftime after outscoring the Falcons, 22-9, in the second.

“We had all kind of turnovers and played like we were scared to death,” Connellsville coach Andy Hedrick said. “The good thing is we have another game tomorrow, but there really wasn’t much good in this game. If our players are as disappointed in their performance as I am, we will show up a lot better tomorrow.”

Woodland Hills held a 24-12 advantage in the third to take a 62-31 lead into the fourth.

Connellsville rallied by outscoring the Wolverines, 25-10, in the fourth, but the deficit was too great to overcome.

The Falcons’ Jalen Rogers came off the bench to score a team-high 19 points on eight field goals and was 3 of 4 at the foul line.

“Jalen (Rogers) came off the bench and had a pretty good game for us,” Hedrick said. “I thought the subs played well.”

Connellsville’s Josh Maher had 17 points on three field goals and was 11 of 16 at the foul line. Teammate Kyle Ridley added 11 on four field goals, including two 3-pointers, and was 1 of 2 at the foul line.

Woodland Hills’ Amante Britt led all scorers with 21 points on six field goals, including one 3-pointer, and was 8 of 10 at the foul line. Teammate Keandre Bowles had 20 on seven field goals, including four 3-pointers, and was 2 of 5 at the foul line.
