Frazier’s Thayne Lawrence defeated the Scotties’ Tyler Griffiths in the marquee bout of the night, but Southmoreland returned home Wednesday night with a 60-9 victory in Section 2-AA (2A) action.

Lawrence and Griffiths are two of the top returning wrestlers in the state. Lawrence led 5-2 after the first period. Griffiths secured an escape in the second period to slice the deficit to 5-3, but Lawrence put the bout away in the third period.

The Scotties’ Brandon Peterson (160), Brendan Moore (170), Lucas Wingrove (182), Brett Huffman (220), and Matt Hixson (120) all won by forfeit. Austin McBeth (145) pinned Danny Barnett in 3:30 and Jaden Datz won by fall at 195 in 3:35 against Matthew Kordich.

Jacob Kordich secured the other points for the Commodores with a forfeit at 106 pounds.

There were no bouts at 285 and 113.
