Bulldogs use falls, forfeits to down Maples, 63-18

Beth-Center took advantage of five forfeits and recorded five falls in a 63-18 Section 2-AA (2A) victory over Mapletown on Wednesday at Beth-Center High School in the section opener for both teams.

The Bulldogs’ Dominic Fundy bumped up to 220 pounds and recorded a fall over Tanner Weston in 57 seconds. The junior is a two-time state qualifier and was second in the state last season. Fundy pushed his career record to 80-12, and his season record is at 5-0.

Teammate and fellow state qualifier from a season ago, Jimmy Gwyer started things off on the right foot at 126 with a fall over John Howard in 1:38.

The Bulldogs’ Todd Fisher pinned Tyler Clites in 15 seconds at 138. Teammate Jacob Baker won by fall in 52 seconds over Bob Friend at 195, and Beth-Center’s Ronnie White planked Chase Wilson in 42 seconds at 285.

The Maples J.T. Hennessey won by fall over Chase Lacey in 3:03 at 145.

The Bulldogs’ Jacob Housel picked up a 17-10 decision over Kevin Hayes at 160.

Beth-Center’s Chase Markoff (132), Makiah Bayus (152), JJ Berish (170), Garrett Dillon (182) and Richard LaRosa (120) won by forfeit.

Mapletown’s Jayden Pauley won by injury default at 106, and teammate and brother William Pauley picked up a forfeit at 113.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday at the Moon Duals.
