Mikes too much for Pioneers, 52-38

Carmichaels opened up a close game with a solid second quarter in Saturday’s 52-38 non-section win at West Greene.

The Mikes (0-2, 4-2) held an 8-7 lead after the first, but outscored the Pioneers, 20-8, for a 28-15 halftime advantage.

Both teams scored 12 points in the third, and Carmichaels held a 12-11 edge in the fourth.

The Mikes’ Jacob Lowry led all scorers with 16 points. Teammate Matt Barrish was 12 for 12 at the foul line. West Greene’s Austin Crouse and Nathan Brudnock each scored 14.

The Pioneers (1-0, 2-4) look to get back on Tuesday when they travel to Frazier on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in non-section play.

Camichaels hosts Mapletown on Wednesday in the King Coal Lions Christmas Tournament at 6 p.m.
