WWE tweaking Jordan’s push

When Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan defeated Cesaro and Sheamus for the Raw tag team titles on Monday, it halted WWE’s plans to go in a different direction with Jordan.

For the last several weeks, Jordan portrayed a whiny good guy who complained about everything when he didn’t get his way.

But WWE has decided to move Jordan, Kurt Angle’s “son,” from a complaining mid-level good guy who would have turned, into a more important role. With Dean Ambrose out of action, WWE decided to go with Jordan instead of Finn Balor in the role.

The question moving forward is, will WWE fans accept Jordan as a top-level guy or will they shun him and boo him out of the building each week on TV?

For the last six weeks or so I sensed Jordan turning into a modern-day Rock in the sense that when Rock debut in 1996, WWE tried to make him into a clean-cut, mega-good guy as Rocky Maivia and it backfired so bad that he turned into a bad guy after taking a brief sabbatical after getting married in 1997.

By teaming Jordan with Rollins and making him an honorary-type member of The Shield for the time being, it will be interesting to see how the fans react to him in the short-term.

U.S. title tourney

This past Tuesday, Daniel Bryan announced a tournament to crown a new United States champion after Dolph Ziggler vacated it the week before.

The eight-man tournament began Tuesday with Jinder Mahal defeating Tye Dillinger and Bobby Roode defeating Baron Corbin.

Look for the other two quarterfinal matches, Mojo Rawley against Zac Ryder and Aiden English against Xavier Woods, to take place Tuesday.

Cena in huge Mania match?

The Wrestling News Observer newsletter reported this week that WWE has a huge match lined up for John Cena at WrestleMania and it appears that it appears that the buildup will take place at the 25th anniversary edition of Raw next month.

The names being tossed around include The Undertaker, Batista, Hulk Hogan and Goldberg. Taker had wanted to face Cena last year but the idea was scrapped.

Ambrose timeline revealed

Earlier this week, WWE announced that Ambrose’s triceps injury will keep him out of action for up to nine months. Of course, this means that he could return in much less time depending on the severity of the injury.

Obviously, WWE will more than likely not announce his return as to give fans a surprise.

Paige injured

Paige just returned to WWE after a long rehab process after neck surgery.

At a house show in Long Island Wednesday, Paige took a kick from Sasha Banks and collapsed to the mat. The match was immediately stopped and Paige was helped to the back.

Kendrick also hurt

Continuing WWE’s bad week with injuries, The Brian Kendrick suffered a broken orbital bone and nose on Raw against Hideo Itami.

This week’s question

When will WWE announce the location for WrestleMania 35? Fred, Uniontown.

WWE usually announces the location for the event about a year-and-a-half in advance, but they have not done so as of yet and I have a hunch why.

Next month at the 25th anniversary episode of Raw, the show will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and the Manhattan Center.

With both venues being in WWE’s hometown of New York City, it leads me to believe that Mania 35 will take place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., which is right across the river from NYC.

When better to announce that Mania returns to NYC than by doing it on the 25th anniversary show?
