Cal women cruise to 96-65 over The Rock
The California (Pa.) women’s basketball team scored over 20 points in each quarter Monday night as the Vulcans defeated visiting Slippery Rock, 96-65, in PSAC West Conference action.
The Vulcans (8-1, 14-1) led 24-17 after the first quarter and 49-32 at halftime. The home team extended its lead to 74-47 after three quarters.
California’s Miki Glenn, the PSAC West Player of the Week, scored a game-high 28 points. She also had nine rebounds, seven assists and six steals.
Shatara Parsons scored 20 points and Seairra Barrett and Emily Suckling both finished with 13.
Mallory Heinle and C.C. Dixon shared scoring honors for Slippery Rock (4-5, 7-8) with 13 points apiece. Brooke Hinderliter and Cassidy Wright both scored 11.
Men’s basketball
California (Pa.) 74, Slippery Rock 66 — The Vulcans held a 3-point lead at halftime and extended their lead over the final 20 minutes for a PSAC West Conference home victory.
Luka Andjusic was the top scorer for California (1-8, 4-11) with 23 points. Rashawn Browne (14), Robel Teckle (11), and Cordell Smith (10) were also in double figures for the Vulcans.
Naquil Jones led The Rock (5-4, 9-6) with 28 points. Merdic Green finished with 11 and Christal Malalu added 10.
