Belle Vernon 57, Mount Pleasant 48 – Mount Pleasant’s late rally fell short Monday night as the Belle Vernon girls held on for a 57-48 Section 3-AAAA home victory.

Neither team helped itself from the foul line. The Lady Vikings made 17-of-39 attempts, while Belle Vernon converted just 7-of-21 attempts.

Belle Vernon (3-1, 7-4) led 22-11 after the first quarter and 34-22 at halftime. The Lady Leopards extended their lead to 51-33 after three quarters.

Kelsey Green led Belle Vernon with 12 points, 10 rebounds, eight steals and five assists. Caitlyn Szakal added 11.

Colleen Trainer scored 11 points for Mount Pleasant (2-2, 6-5).
