Beth-Center wrestlers still undefeated
The Beth-Center wrestling team remained undefeated Wednesday night with a 52-12 victory over Bentworth in Section 2-AA (2A) action.
The Bulldogs improve to 4-0 in the section.
Timmy Welsh opened the match at 138 pounds with a pin in 55 seconds over the Bearcats’ Marquis Bentley.
The Bulldogs’ Jacob Housel (145), Maverick Sullenberger (152), and JJ Berish (160) followed with pins for a 24-0 lead.
Jacob Baker kept things rolling for Beth-Center with an 11-8 decision at 170 pounds. Dominic Fundy scored an 18-7 major decision at 182 pounds.
Bentworth’s Ryan Rise broke the run at 195 pounds with a 7-5 decision over Garrett Dillon. Teammate Ashton Lopez kept the momentum going at 220 with a 5-0 decision.
But, Beth-Center’s David Headlee came back with a pin in 2:26 at 285 and Richard LaRosa toughed out a 3-0 decision over Chris Dovshek at 106 pounds.
Bentworth’s Bryce Hook won by forfeit at 113.
Jimmy Gwyer (120) and Dylan Swarrow (126) won their bouts by decision, and Todd Fisher capped the impressive win with a fall in 5:19.
