Hempfield (girls) 91, Connellsville 88; Hempfield (boys) 91, Connellsville 78 – The Connellsville swim team had a tough road trip to Hempfield Thursday night, dropping both ends of a boy-girl Section 1-AAA meet.

The Lady Spartans edged Connellsville, 91-88, while the Hempfield boys defeated the Lady Falcons, 91-78.

Connellsville’s Tatum Detwiler won the 50 freestyle (25.31) and 100 breaststroke (1:08.51), and hit the WPIAL qualifying times in both events.

Carlee Shreve (200 freestyle, 2:11.52) and Gracey Fiesta (200 IM, 2:23.66) also had first-place finishes. The 200 medley relay team of Nicole Wood, Detwiler, Fiesta and Shreve second-place time of 1:58.92 also qualified for the WPIAL meet.

Ian McCombie had the lone first-place finish for the Falcons, touching the wall first in the 500 freestyle with a winning time of 5:25.80.
