West Greene 796-56x, Waynesburg Central 793-49x – The Section 1 rifle match at the Waynesburg Sportsmen’s Association range was close Wednesday afternoon, but West Greene prevailed, defeating Waynesburg Central, 796-56x-793-49x.

The match was scheduled for a couple weeks ago, but was postponed because of snow.

Haleigh Thomas and Zach Abbott led the way for the Pioneers, sharing medalist honors with a score of 100-9x. Shey Watson (100-8x) and Kenzie Thomas (100-7x) were also spot on for West Greene.

Noah Lemley (99-5x), DJ Jones (99-6x), Shane Vliet (99-6x), and Sage Vliet (99-6x) rounded out the scoring for the Pioneers. The scores of Dawn Anna Trout (92-2x) and Ethan Huff (96-2x) did not count.

The Raiders’ Hunter Wasson shared medalist honors with a 100-9x. Emilee Tuttle and Selena Phillips both shot 100-8x. Dylan Crockard (98-3x), Dylan Henkins (99-7x), Cameron Cernuska (99-4x), Tristan Cole (98-5x), and Nick Guess (99-5x) also counted in the final tally.

Abby Ozohonish (97-5x) and Michael Pochron (95-3x) did not count in the final score.

The two teams are scheduled to meet again on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
