Robinson, Waynesburg Legion too much for Carmichaels, 12-0
Waynesburg Legion scored three runs in the first inning, and that was all the offense Luke Robinson needed in a 12-0 triumph over Carmichaels in Fayette American Legion play on Friday at Waynesburg.
Robinson had six strikeouts and didn’t walk a batter in three innings to pick up the win.
Waynesburg (3-10) followed up its three-run first with five runs in the second. Robinson capped off the inning with a two-run triple to score Ryley Metheny and Jesse Johnson.
Robinson added a single and an RBI for the home team. Metheny had two hits and Johnson was three for five with a double and two singles. Teammate Justin Goodman was 3 for 3 with two RBIs.
Waynesburg’s Nicolas Zator had an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to put the Mercy Rule into effect. Waynesburg’s 17 hits were the most the team had all season, as it won both games against Carmichaels this year.
Carmichaels (5-6) had four hits, all singles. Matthew Barrish took the loss for the visitors.
Waynesburg hosts Jefferson-Morgan today at 1 p.m. in a doubleheader.
