CALIFORNIA — AMD Industries put up 17 unanswered points late in the second half to defeat Lee Supply, 67-40, on Wednesday evening in the J. Budd Grebb Memorial Basketball League girls division.

After the game, AMD Industries coach Bill Wagner said. “It’s a huge win for us and keeps us up with State Farm, who I’d just love to play in the championship game.”

“During the second half, we really really clamped down,” continued Wagner. “We really capitalized at the end of the game and was pushing the ball more.”

The first minutes of the game were a back-and-forth brawl between AMD Industries (7-1) and Lee Supply (3-5).

Every time AMD Industries took the lead, Lee Supply answered by tying the game up, but AMD Industries pulled ahead with a three-pointer by Bailey Vig (California) and never looked back, leading, 32-20, at the half.

Lee Supply wasn’t going away quietly, and Keirra Boff (Belle Vernon) put up 20 points in the second half alone.

Despite Boff’s effort, AMD Industries proved to be too much for Lee Supply and went on a tear, scoring 17 unanswered points for the win.

Rick Puskar filled in for Lee Supply coach Phil Stewart and said, “I stepped in for coach Stewart, and for only having six girls tonight, I thought they played their tails off and gave great effort for most of the game.”

“Aislyn Lee and Keirra Boff played great games tonight,” continued Puskar. “A credit to the other team too because they played their tails off.”

Boff was the only player for Lee Supply to make it into double-digits, scoring 23 points, four rebounds and four assists.

Vig led AMD Industries with 20 points, three rebounds and three assists. Grace Henderson (Belle Vernon) added 17 points, 10 rebounds, and an assist, and Bella Skobel (Charleroi) scored 13 points with four rebounds and four assists.

In other action, Belle Vernon Dairy Queen topped Cedarbrook, 67-62, in overtime.

Belle Vernon DQ’s Chloe Jaworski (Mount Pleasant) led her team in scoring with 19 points and Cedarbrook’s Megan Kollock (Greensburg Salem) also put up 19.

Belle Vernon Dairy Queen improved to 5-3 while Cedarbrook fell to 2-6.

State Farm defeated Duda, 58-26, in the third game.

State Farm’s Katlyn Riley (Charleroi) scored 19 points and Duda’s Kendall Shaporka (Frazier) and Halley Kellerman (Bentworth) both scored six points to lead their team in scoring.

State Farm moved to 7-1 and Duda is still seeking its first win at 0-8.
