Mill Run closes regular season with 10-0 win

Tanner Orndorff’s single with one out invoked the mercy rule as Mill Run closed the Fayette County Baseball League regular season Friday night with a 10-0 victory over visiting Little Joey’s Pizza.

Mill Run finishes with a record of 11-9 and travels to Mitch’s Bail Bonds, Tuesday, for the opening game of the best-of-3 semifinal series.

Little Joey’s Pizza (5-13) plays Better Edge, Sunday afternoon, to advance in the playoffs against top-seeded Carmichaels, also beginning on Tuesday.

Mill Run came out of gate in the bottom of the first inning with five runs.

The home team added two more in the bottom of the third.

Dakota McWilliams’ had a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth to set up Orndorff’s game-ending single.

Elijah Small pitched four innings for the win, scattering three singles with one strikeout and no walks.

Orndorff led the Mill Run offense with two hits and three RBI. Grant Witt had a single and drove in two runs, and Chris Firestone added a pair of singles.

Aaron Skinner took the loss.
