Charleroi invited to Hall of Fame Academy

When it appeared that Charleroi’s 7-on-7 schedule was concluded after last weekend’s Pyrex Bowl at Belle Vernon, and the team would get ready for camp next month, that was alright with head coach Donnie Militzer as he has seen a lot of improvement from the team since last season.
But now, the team will get a little extra work as it was announced recently that the team has been chosen to be honorees of an invite as special guests this week of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and its prestigious Hall of Fame Academy in Canton, Ohio.
“This is an amazing honor for our program and it shows that hard work does indeed pay off,” Militzer said. “We were recommended for this opportunity in recognition of performance and improvement as a program.”
The activities will take place on Thursday and the team will travel on a charter bus to Canton, leaving at 6 a.m. and returning that night.
“We will have an exciting day of events,” Militzer said. “This truly is a great opportunity for each player individually as well as our team collectively.”
The team will receive two-hours of instruction from former and current NFL head coaches and some Hall of Fame players.
The team will also compete in a 7-on-7 contest against the National European 18-and-under all-star team.
“Our team will also get a VIP tour of the Hall of Fame and be given some special gifts,” Militzer said. “We are blessed to be given this experience.”
The Cougars will look to build on a .500 season which was its first non-losing season in almost a decade.
