Rachel Rohanna managed only two birdies Saturday in the second round of the Firekeepers Casino Hotel Championship and missed the cut with a second straight 2-over 74.

The Waynesburg Central graduate finished with four bogeys and two birdies as she had in the first round and missed the cut by two strokes.

Benyapa Niphatsophon holds the lead heading into the final round at 9-under 135.

Rohanna opened with consecutive bogeys to slip to 4-over for the tournament. She managed to get one of the lost strokes back with a birdie on No. 6 and went out in 1-over 37.

She birdied No. 11 to get to even for the second round and 2-over for the tournament, but bogeys on Nos. 13 and 16 put her outside the cut line as she played the back in 37.

“Just not enough birdies. I couldn’t make a putt fall today,” said Rohanna. “It was a little bit of everything. The greens were really rough coming in. Actually, I probably made more putts than the other ladies in my group, but I missed three inside of 5 feet on my last nine holes which was extremely frustrating!”

The missed short putts down the stretch were a main contributing factor for Rohanna falling short of the cut.

“Yes, for sure,” said Rohanna. “I didn’t hit the ball great this week, but hit it well enough to be at even or better. My putter just couldn’t get hot.”

Rohanna again hit just 7-of-14 fairways. She hit 13-of-18 greens in regulation and needed 33 putts to complete her round.

Rohanna remains in the Midwest for the Symetra Tour’s PHC Classic in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
