Cal U athletes honored
Uniontown graduate Julie Friend, Summer Hill, Jaclyn Reinbold, Emilia Ricciuti and Yough grad Aaron Morgan gave the California University of Pa. track & field squad five athletes on the All-Academic Team as honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Friend and Hill were honored for the sixth time, three each in cross country and track & field. Reinbold earned her third academic honor (one cross country, two track & field), while Reinbold was recognized for the first time.
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic status, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.25 and have reached a provisional or automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships in either indoor or outdoor seasons.
The women’s track & field squad was recognized as an All-Academic Team for the ninth time in the past 10 years. The Vulcans posted a 3.46 cumulative GPA, well above the mark of 3.00 or higher.
Morgan capped his career with the Vulcans with recognition from the USTFCCA for his second all-academic honor of the spring after selection for the CoSida Academic All-America team.
