Smithfield-Fairchance Legion out-slugs J-M, 19-8

Willie Palmer smacked two doubles and a single as Smithfield-Fairchance pounded out 17 hits in out-slugging Jefferson-Morgan, 19-8, in Fayette American Legion baseball action on Tuesday.

Dylen Over had three hits for S-F, including a two-run single to cap off a six-run seventh inning that invoked the 10-run mercy rule to end the festivities. Chandler Goodwin also had three hits for Smithfield-Fairchance (2-2) which played as the home team although the make-up game was at Jefferson-Morgan.

Winning pitcher Adam Simon struck out four and walked three while tossing a complete game.

Steve Angel doubled twice, R.J. Hlatky singled twice and scored four runs and Simon and Sam Hlatky both also had a pair of hits.

Hunter Bowen hit a three-run homer for Jefferson-Morgan, which also got a triple and two singles from Eli Rafail and two doubles from Tyler Zelenick.

Devin Stoneking was the losing pitcher.

Smithfield-Fairchance hits the field again 6 p.m. Thursday at Colonial 3.
